About The Position

St. Catherine Hospital – Dodge City is a Joint Commission accredited 99-bed hospital that serves as a regional referral center for southwest Kansas, with acute care at its core. The hospital provides health services including diagnostics, interventional cardiology, and cardiac rehabilitation, combining patient-centered care with modern technology and medical expertise. As a Sterile Equipment Tech Lead, you will perform routine tasks related to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies. This role involves operating and monitoring sterilization processes, maintaining records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards. You will also be responsible for maintaining your certification, monitoring and instructing both certified and non-certified personnel, and communicating with various departments to ensure a smooth workflow. The position requires assuring daily task assignments are completed and may involve assuming responsibility in the absence of a Supervisor or Manager. Additionally, you will participate in training staff on task competency and engage in hospital-wide educational projects.

Requirements

  • 2 years of sterile equipment processing, required
  • Computer skills, required
  • HS/GED required
  • One of the following primary Central Services certifications is required upon hire or transfer: CRCST, CBSPDT
  • One of the following post-primary certifications is required within one year of hire or transfer: CIS, CSIS, CER, CFER, CHL, CSPM, CASSPT

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization and distribution of instruments, equipment and sterile supplies.
  • Be responsible for general operating and monitoring of sterilization, maintaining records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.
  • Maintain certification, monitors and instructs certified and non-certified personnel.
  • Communicate with departments and staff throughout the day to maintain a smooth work-flow.
  • Assure daily task assignments are completed.
  • May be requested to assume responsibility in the absence of the Supervisor and/or Manager.
  • Be involve with training in competency of tasks performed by the staff and participates in hospital wide educational projects.
