About The Position
This Stepdown unit is a fast-paced environment that provides care for a diverse patient population. The unit consists of 22 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. Key patient diagnoses include heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke.
Requirements
- Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a critical care or stepdown environment preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Positive attitude towards patient care and teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret telemetry strips.
- Titrate medications such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin as necessary.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Assist with the use of respiratory equipment, including CPAP, BiPap, ventilators, and high-flow oxygen.
- Provide patient and family education regarding health management.
- Participate in code blue situations, adhering to established protocols.
