About The Position

The STEM Center Club Sponsor helps create a safe, inclusive, and innovative environment where students can explore STEM through authentic, hands-on experiences. By serving as a facilitator, mentor, organizer, and safety monitor, the sponsor empowers students to develop the skills, confidence, and curiosity needed to become creative problem-solvers and lifelong learners.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated management, leadership and human relations skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in making decisions
  • Proven ability to carry an assignment to its completion
  • Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to the duties and responsibilities listed below
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an annual STEM Club plan aligned with the school’s mission, STEM goals, and student interests.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate regular club meetings.
  • Organize STEM challenges, projects, competitions, demonstrations, and special events.
  • Develop agendas, timelines, and activity plans to support successful club experiences.
  • Coordinate appropriate use of the STEM Center, maker space, innovation lab, equipment, and materials.
  • Promote inclusive participation and encourage involvement from diverse student groups
  • Foster a collaborative environment that develops creativity, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and perseverance
  • Connect STEM activities to real-world applications, current innovations, and potential STEM careers.
  • Facilitate engineering design challenges, coding activities, robotics, maker projects, scientific investigations, and other STEM experiences.
  • Encourage students to ask questions, investigate problems, test ideas, learn from failure, and develop solutions.
  • Ensure students use tools, equipment, materials, and technology safely and responsibly.
  • Follow school policies and procedures related to student supervision, conduct, equipment use, and risk management.
  • Identify and address potential safety concerns before and during STEM activities.
  • Performs related work as required or assigned by the school principal.
