About The Position

Becoming is building Developmental Intelligence: AI for predicting how organisms change over time. Development is intelligence in motion. Most experimental systems fail when metabolic demands become too high. We are building systems that don’t — combining engineered metabolic environments, longitudinal measurement, and predictive models to turn development into something that can be understood, tested, and controlled. This is frontier tech with real stakes. We value speed, rigor, integrity, and ownership. We are hiring a Stem Cell Systems Technician to run and stabilize the biological systems at the core of our platform. This is not a generic technician role. You will be responsible for executing, standardizing, and scaling stem cell workflows into reliable systems. You will work closely with developmental biologists, engineers, and AI teams to ensure experiments are robust, reproducible, and integrated into closed-loop platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in biology, bioengineering, or related field
  • 1–4 years of hands-on stem cell culture experience
  • Strong fundamentals in aseptic technique and cell culture maintenance
  • Experience with iPSCs or ESCs strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience writing or improving SOPs or structured protocols
  • High attention to detail and ability to execute repeatable, high-quality workflows
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving experimental environment

Responsibilities

  • Stem Cell Systems Execution
  • Maintain and expand human stem cell cultures (iPSC, ESC, and derivatives)
  • Execute differentiation protocols and support iterative optimization
  • Perform cell culture operations (passaging, feeding, media prep, cryopreservation, QC)
  • Support co-culture and multi-cell type systems as needed
  • Run long-horizon experiments requiring tight consistency over time
  • SOP Ownership & Systemization
  • Write, maintain, and version-control standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Translate experimental workflows into clear, reproducible protocols
  • Identify sources of variability and systematically reduce drift
  • Ensure consistent execution across time, operators, and conditions
  • Train team members on SOP-compliant workflows
  • Data & Experimental Rigor
  • Maintain structured, high-quality experimental records and logs
  • Ensure traceability between samples, conditions, and outcomes
  • Support sample collection for downstream assays (omics, imaging, histology)
  • Platform Integration
  • Assist with integrating biological systems into perfusion / closed-loop platforms
  • Work with engineering teams to ensure biological requirements are met in hardware systems
  • Lab Operations
  • Maintain sterility, organization, and readiness of the lab environment
  • Manage reagents, consumables, and inventory for core workflows

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity
  • Full benefits
  • High-trust, high-ownership environment
  • The opportunity to define a new scientific category from the ground up
