About The Position

Tindall Corporation is a precast concrete manufacturer with locations throughout the Southeastern U.S. The Steel Shop Welder performs welding duties, typically at extreme heights and according to specifications, using SMAW welding equipment. The role supports erection-site work and requires compliance with safety and quality rules and processes to help maintain a safe work environment and produce high-quality products.

The position involves preparing connection plates, climbing ladders while carrying welding leads, making weld connections between panels and other structural members, and assisting the erection crew when available. The welder must understand Tindall welding and grouting procedures and perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, with 1–3 years of experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be or become Tindall Certified in SMAW 3F and 4F.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety and quality rules and processes.
• Clean connection plates with a chipping hammer and/or grinder.
• Climb ladders with welding leads to extreme heights to connect panels with welds.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols to determine welding requirements.
• Drill holes in foundations for red head bolts, install the red heads, bolt clip angles to the foundation, and weld the angles to panels.
• Use a hand wrench to pull panels together to correct bad joints and make weld connections.
• Weld haunches and base plates on members at job sites when required.
• Weld connection plates on panels, beams, columns, and double tees as needed.
• Weld carbon plate-to-plate fillet and groove joints.
• Assist the erection crew with duties when available, such as grouting and positioning members.
• Maintain a strong understanding of Tindall welding and grouting procedures.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as directed by the supervisor.
