About The Position

The Steel Manufacturing Engineer I is a rotational development position that involves rotating through different departments across Metallus's Faircrest, Gambrinus, and Harrison facilities. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and apply engineering skills and teamwork to real-life opportunities and situations. The goal is to lead to a specialized role that matches individual skills with business needs. Metallus is an industry leader in manufacturing steel for various markets, with a legacy spanning over a century.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in engineering technology or industrial technology
  • At least 2 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or material handling

  • Internship at Metallus in manufacturing, engineering, or reliability

Responsibilities

  • Rotate through various steelmaking or steel processing areas and perform all assigned duties under the guidance of the manager.
  • Work on challenging projects and assignments within the manufacturing division, which may include engineering design, re-engineering, installation of equipment, and failure mode analysis.
  • Gain hands-on experience, training, and development opportunities to understand Metallus manufacturing and engineering processes and procedures.
  • Apply key engineering knowledge and skills to build a solid foundation for advancement.
  • Foster an environment that encourages continuous improvement of processes, products, and procedures to improve people, quality, velocity, and cost.
  • Communicate between various internal departments, teams, and staff through daily contacts, regular coordination meetings, and as required for projects.
  • Communicate between various external companies and organizations regarding potential design, re-engineering, installation of equipment, failure mode analysis, etc.
