About The Position

Rapat Corporation is a family-owned manufacturing company with 50 years of experience delivering industrial products and solutions. The company is seeking an experienced Steel Estimator to join its Hawley team. The role combines steel fabrication estimating, material take-offs, and technical sales. The estimator works with engineering and production teams to translate customer requirements into structural take-offs, cost estimates, and competitive quotes.

Requirements

• Proven experience estimating steel, including material take-offs and cost estimation for structural steel, sheet metal or plate, conveyor systems, or heavy industrial equipment.
• Ability to interpret complex structural blueprints, weld symbols, layout drawings, and technical specifications.
• Understanding of shop fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, welding, assembly, and finishing.
• Experience using ERP software for project cost modeling, inventory tracking, and quote generation.
• Ability to communicate technical details clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed structural steel material take-offs from blueprints, customer specifications, and layout drawings.
• Calculate shop labor, welding, and material costs in ERP software and prepare price quotes, customer proposals, and delivery timelines.
• Review site layouts and technical drawings for constructability, cost efficiency, and compliance with industry safety standards.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Shop Management to resolve design questions, refine shop labor estimates, and help meet project schedules.
• Serve as a technical resource for clients by interpreting equipment needs, providing quotes, and following up on sales opportunities.
