Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Business or Engineering from a four-year college or university
  • 3 - 5 years experience
  • Analytical skills: Index trends & adjustments, cost analysis, demand analysis, etc.
  • Data management: attention to details and proficiency in SAP & Excel
  • Negotiation techniques
  • Supplier relationship & stakeholder management
  • Project management / Risk management
  • Leadership & assertive communication
  • Basic steel grades & properties, stamping process and foreign trade concepts (Incoterms, HTS, tariffs, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and source steel for Brose plants and Brose stampers in USA & CAN.
  • Manage commercial relationship with Steel partners in USA & CAN.
  • Set-up sourcing file, analyze & negotiate quotes and present final proposal to DM.
  • Finalize agreements, set-up award files and sign LOAs with USA & CAN SSC’s.
  • Update and validate steel prices in line with supplier index agreements.
  • Set-up steel pricing sheets and distribute to all stampers & commodity buyers.
  • Set-up & update steel shipping files to calculate quarterly rebates from all SSCs.
  • Get Credit Notes from SSCs and provide rebate allocation to AM/EK controlling.
  • Maintain & keep all steel records updated as new PNs are added to NA steel pool.
  • Support Project buyers providing steel prices for target setting process.
  • Get steel specs & volumes from project buyers to support new projects ramp-up.
  • Onboard new steel suppliers according to AM strategy & processes (e.g. GTCPs).
  • Support steel shortages at Brose plants and stampers to avoid Customer impact.
  • Provide SC & commodity buyers scrap indexes for their scrap recovery calculation.
  • Perform detailed cost break-down analysis to identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Identify cost reduction projects and support execution of related RACE measures.
  • Monitor index trends, Market intelligence and forward-looking outlooks from commodity experts.
  • Support Annual Raw Material premise and quarterly forecast updates.
