About The Position

Joyson Safety Systems is a global leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of safety-critical systems and components for automotive and non-automotive markets. We are dedicated to delivering life-saving technology to customers worldwide. This role is for a Sr. Commodity Buyer for the Electromechanical commodity, with experience in commodities such as Harness, Heat Mats, ECUs, PCBAs, Switches, and Sensors. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategies, experience in a large-scale company, and be data-driven to manage and reshape the supply base for competition, leverage, and best-value sourcing. The role involves partnering with cross-functional teams on cost-reduction programs and reporting to the America Commodity Manager with a dotted line to the Global Commodity Manager. Responsibilities include developing should-cost analysis, creating global benchmarks, defining optimal cost structures, and determining long-term commodity strategies. This role supports both regional and global team objectives.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Commodity Buyer.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience within a Global Commodity for the Automotive Industry.
  • Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, tooling, and commercial terms.
  • Proven record of annual cost savings and value creation.
  • Understanding of should-cost models and cost breakdowns.
  • Negotiations with supply base that are close to be considered single source.
  • Develop and analyze should cost for the commodity.
  • Index agreements.
  • Development and execution of commodity strategies.
  • Market analysis and benchmarking.
  • Supplier portfolio optimization.
  • Fluent in English language skills written and spoken.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Data Analysis driven.

Responsibilities

  • Execute annual price negotiations with all relevant suppliers to achieve budget saving/PPV targets.
  • Ensure the best price on a global supply market for all products commodity.
  • Develop a comprehensive Regional & Global Commodity Purchasing Strategy (3-5 years view) based on global/regional business strategy and PBU strategy.
  • Lead the global implementation of the commodity strategy including action plans in each region under their responsibility.
  • Work closely with Supplier Quality to monitor and correct all supplier PPM problems.
  • Initiate and/or support VAVE for cost reductions initiatives.
  • Responsible for supplier management from new supplier introduction to supplier phase out, compiling supply market intelligence, identifying purchasing risks, opportunities, and ensuring data transparency.
