About The Position

This role is for a Sr. Commodity Buyer specializing in the Electromechanical commodity, requiring experience in a large-scale company and a data-driven approach to manage and reshape the supply base. The position involves developing strategies, executing cost-reduction programs, and reporting to the America Commodity Manager with a dotted line to the Global Commodity Manager. The role supports both regional and global team objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience with Electromechanical commodity such as Harness, Heat Mats, ECUs, PCBAs, Switches, Sensors.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies and execute them.
  • Experience in a larger scale company.
  • Data driven for strategically manage and reshaped the supply base to strengthen competition, maximize leverage, and drive best‑value sourcing decisions.
  • Partnered effectively with cross‑functional teams to design and execute cost‑reduction programs (CRP).
  • Develop should cost analysis, create benchmarks globally, define best cost structure based on company needs or company customers requirements.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Determine a long-term strategy for the commodity in terms of the supply base.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a Commodity Buyer.
  • 2 to 3 years of experience within a Global Commodity for the Automotive Industry.
  • Experience negotiating pricing, contracts, tooling, and commercial terms.
  • Proven record of annual cost savings and value creation.
  • Understanding of should-cost models and cost breakdowns.
  • Negotiations with supply base that are close to be considered single source.
  • Develop and analyze should cost for the commodity.
  • Index agreements.
  • Development and execution of commodity strategies.
  • Market analysis and benchmarking.
  • Supplier portfolio optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Execute annual price negotiations with all relevant suppliers to achieve budget saving / PPV target.
  • Ensure the best price on a global supply market for all products commodity.
  • Develop a comprehensive Regional & Global Commodity Purchasing Strategy (3-5 years view) based on global/regional business strategy and PBU strategy.
  • Lead the global implementation of the commodity strategy including action plans in each region under their responsibility.
  • Works closely with Supplier Quality to monitor and correct all supplier PPM problems.
  • Initiate and/or support VAVE for cost reductions initiatives.
  • Responsible for supplier management starting from new supplier introduction to supplier phase out, compiling supply market intelligence, identifying purchasing risks, opportunities and ensuring data transparency.
