STEAM Program Instructor

About The Position

The STEAM Program Instructor creates and teaches engaging science, technology, engineering, arts, and math programs for youth ages 2 to 14. Under the guidance of the Youth and Family Program Director, the instructor develops and facilitates age-appropriate curriculum, builds positive relationships with members, participants, and guests, and supports the YMCA’s work in youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The role also coordinates with YMCA leadership and community organizations to support participation and integrate STEAM activities into existing programs.

Requirements

High school education or equivalent.
Ability to plan and initiate culturally relevant and age-appropriate games and activities.
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Good communication skills.
A chauffeur’s license, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

Some college experience in interactive science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
Experience teaching youth in the STEAM curriculum.
Program lesson-planning and instructional skills.

Responsibilities

Review and create STEAM curriculum for youth ages 2 to 14.
Facilitate STEAM curriculum for youth ages 2 to 14.
Coordinate with YMCA leadership to integrate STEAM activities into programs, including Child Watch, Kids Fit, Home School, and youth programs.
Identify, purchase, organize, and prepare materials for STEAM activities.
Communicate internally with local schools and homeschooling organizations to build participation in STEAM programming.
Support the development of marketing materials as needed.
Capture and maintain a portfolio of pictures, short video clips, and completed projects for showcases, events, and publications.
Provide prompt and courteous service to members, participants, and guests.
