About The Position

The Statistician 1 position with the Department of Health offers an exciting chance to support vital public health work. This role helps strengthen statewide EMS data systems that guide important decisions. You will join a team that values accuracy, collaboration, and innovation. The work you do will help advance programs that improve safety and health outcomes across Pennsylvania. This role supports the Health Informatics Office by analyzing statewide EMS data to guide evidence-based decisions and program improvements.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree that includes or is supplemented by 15 college credits in statistics or courses emphasizing the application of statistical methods; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out statistical evaluations of EMS information to identify trends, patterns, and emerging issues
  • Maintain and check data submissions for completeness, accuracy, and reliability
  • Assist with upgrades, enhancements, and monitoring of the statewide EMS data repository
  • Develop logic and code to clean and prepare datasets using programming tools and statistical software
  • Create reports, dashboards, and visualizations that support EMS oversight and improvement
  • Work with internal staff, councils, and public health partners to support evaluation and improvement projects
