About The Position

This position is housed in the Chronic Disease Epidemiology and Evaluation Program (CDEEP), which is located in the Center for Health and Environmental Data (CHED). The program exists to provide surveillance, epidemiology, and evaluation support to CDPHE programs, primarily those in the Prevention Services Division. The program provides managers, policy makers, and other decision makers with population and programmatic data to help direct programs and policies to the appropriate geographies and demographics, and evaluate programs’ efficiency, effectiveness, and impact. The program is also responsible for data collection, analysis, and dissemination of population surveillance data for use in monitoring population and health trends, and in support of measuring progress towards state and local public health goals. This position reports to the CDEEP Evaluation Unit Supervisor. Purpose of Position: This position will serve as an entry level analyst supporting multiple complex evaluation and data projects for CDEEP, in content areas such as chronic disease prevention and management, health systems change/clinic quality improvement, health promotion, nutrition, oral health, school health, tobacco prevention and control, and cancer prevention and control. This position assists in the design, implementation, and analysis of quantitative and qualitative applied research methods, including descriptive and inferential analysis using tools such as statistical software as well as online surveys, key informant interviews, and focus groups. This position may also assist in gathering, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating population-based health survey data from sources such as the BRFSS, CHS, PRAMS, HKCS, and TABS, as well as program-specific data contained in state-maintained information systems such as e-CaST, CDS, Medicaid's MMIS, clinic EHRs, and other sources. The position prepares data summaries and assists in the preparation of comprehensive reports for a broad audience. This position interacts with internal and external interest holders to define their data and evaluation needs, design research methods and tools, provide data, interpret findings, and communicate statistical principles and procedures applicable to interpreting the results.

Requirements

• Four (4) years professional experience in statistical analysis and/or evaluation.
• A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years.

Nice To Haves

• Experience designing, building, and managing online data collection tools and surveys, with demonstrated expertise in REDCap project design and administration strongly preferred.
• Skilled in collecting, cleaning, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data using statistical packages (e.g., R, SPSS, etc.) and qualitative analysis software (e.g., Dedoose) with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail when resolving data issues.
• Knowledge of program evaluation frameworks (e.g., utilization-focused evaluation, developmental evaluation, equitable evaluation, CDC program evaluation framework, Stepwise, REACT), study/evaluation design, descriptive and inferential statistics, and qualitative methods (such as focus groups and interviews), ideally applied within public health, chronic disease, or clinical quality improvement settings.
• Ability to synthesize complex findings into plain-language reports, interactive dashboards, and visual summaries for non-technical audiences, using standard office software and collaborative workflow tools.
• A proactive, adaptable self-starter grounded in an understanding of how social determinants of health (SDOH) impact health equity who brings critical thinking and a collaborative approach to complex challenges, takes initiative in ambiguous situations, and manages tasks independently to meet deadlines.
