About The Position

As a Stations Maintenance Technician I, you will be an essential member of Brightline’s Maintenance Team performing basic general preventive maintenance and minor corrective repair of building, systems, equipment, and grounds. You will work under the general supervision and guidance of the Director of Station Maintenance. You will utilize skills in plumbing, electrical, painting, heating, and cooling to complete your daily job functions. This role is for a people-person looking for a role where they will be empowered to own their zone, inspired to learn, and have the confidence to bounce back from setbacks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of professional experience in basic building maintenance, or similar maintenance operations, preferably in large facilities, manufacturing, or similar environments.
  • Demonstrated some knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and overall building construction, underscoring a robust technical background.
  • Knowledgeable about general building systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Skilled in operating motorized equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers, and drills.
  • Proficient in construction and maintenance fields, including landscaping, facility operations, painting, basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Strong focus on safety and attention to detail to consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • Well-versed in safety protocols and regulations related to maintenance operations. Wear personal protective equipment when required and necessary.
  • Clear and effective communication with teammates, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Must be able and willing to work any shift or on weekends and holidays based on operational needs as necessary.
  • On-call availability is a necessity.
  • Good physical condition to handle the demands of the job, which may include working in various weather conditions and performing manual tasks.
  • Capable of operating heavy machinery, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and bending for extended periods, frequently lifting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Effective in working with other maintenance technicians and following managerial instructions.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • This position is very active, and the employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl all day.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
  • Objects weighing 70 pounds or more must be accompanied by a second individual to avoid injury.

Nice To Haves

  • Some college, technical certification, or vocational training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all necessary basic mechanical maintenance and operational procedures to ensure maximum life and reliability of all mechanical systems under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Responsible for basic maintenance and operational duties, including performance testing, maintenance, and care of HVAC Equipment (RTU, SCU, Chillers, Boilers, Pumps), Plumbing Systems (Commercial level), Electrical Systems (Generators and ATS), HVAC Systems (Knowledge of DDC), HVAC Auxiliary Systems, Lighting Systems (Lighting retrofits), and General Building Systems.
  • Enter information in the property’s maintenance record system.
  • Respond to and complete work orders and PMs in a timely manner; work may be reviewed and monitored by supervisor. Typical requests include light bulb replacement, hot/cold calls, repair locks and doors, and miscellaneous requests as required.
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance at all times.
  • Perform duties within the required time frame as directed by the Supervisor or Director.
  • Maintain inventory of lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and other building-related supplies and tools.
  • Assist in the inspection of work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
  • Proactively inspect grounds and building appearance and condition.
  • Participate in company or external educational opportunities to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the engineering department members.
  • Monitor and review all Brightline communication channels, including our company intranet, bConnected, during work hours to ensure all company and department communications and notifications are promptly reviewed.
