About The Position

The primary function of this position is to ensure the plant boiler systems are maintained operational and to identify and follow through on repairs. This role involves planning alternate activities to maximize opportunity and take advantage of unscheduled downtime or work delays. The Stationary Engineer will work with the supervisor to order overhaul and spare parts as needed, troubleshoot to repair and install mechanical equipment, and participate in plant facilities and utilities such as Air Compressor System, Boiler and Steam Systems, Hot Water and High-Pressure Systems, Pressure Controls, Plumbing, and Repairs. They will be required to confer with production, central engineering, R&D, contractors, and other operation groups to assist in starting new processes, lines, or plant trials. Additionally, the role requires maintaining records and inventories, keeping an orderly and clean work area, and complying with all company safety policies and procedures, OSHA rules and regulations, good manufacturing practices (GMP), 5S requirements, and the plant Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) policy. The position also involves leading by example, cleaning and securing all equipment at the end of the shift, and performing miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have a 2-year technical degree in a related field or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Must have a minimum of a 3rd Class Steam Engineering license.
  • Must possess a high level of machine troubleshooting ability in a manufacturing environment, including but not limited to: Boiler systems.
  • Must have strong mechanical and aptitude.
  • Must operate with a high degree of proficiency with little or no supervision, particularly as such involves the specific trade area.
  • Must be willing to learn SAP, LEDS, and Infinity, and be able to demonstrate ability.
  • Must be able to design, build, construct, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, set up, or adjust machinery, equipment, and parts.
  • Must be a motivated team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Food Manufacturing experience
  • Sanitary Design experience
  • Knowledge of SIX SIGMA techniques such as 5-S
  • Journeyman card preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example with coworkers.
  • Adhere to good manufacturing practices (GMP), including proper waste disposal, attire, grooming & hygiene, etc.
  • Comply with 5S requirements.
  • Comply with the plant Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) policy and implement the correct procedure for the LOTO of machines operated.
  • At the end of the shift, clean and secure all equipment.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
