About The Position

The Minnesota Star Tribune is seeking three State Fair Booth Managers to oversee booth operations and team members during the State Fair, including setup, daily management, and teardown. This role involves supporting staff with merchandise sales, customer engagement, subscription sign-ups, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient booth environment throughout the event period. The position also includes related training and recap sessions.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated customer service skills with a passion for engaging with Minnesota Star Tribune readers, subscribers, and fair attendees.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience guiding and supporting a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and effectively manage booth operations.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic event setting.
  • Available to work shifts ranging from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Able to stand and work in a sales booth for extended periods, up to 6 hours per day.
  • Capable of lifting and moving newspaper bundles and merchandise weighing 20–40 pounds.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for employment visa status.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee booth operations and team members during the State Fair.
  • Manage booth setup, daily operations, and teardown.
  • Support staff with merchandise sales.
  • Engage with customers.
  • Facilitate subscription sign-ups.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient booth environment.
  • Attend training and orientation sessions.
  • Work a minimum of 8 days during the 12-day Minnesota State Fair, including weekends.
  • Work shifts ranging from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Benefits

  • Hourly compensation of $20.00/hour.
