About The Position

The Starbucks Barista is part of Target’s Food & Beverage team, which supports a consistent guest experience by keeping products fresh, in stock, available, accurately priced, and properly presented. The role prepares handcrafted Starbucks beverages and food to recipe specifications and helps maintain food quality, freshness, inventory accuracy, and food safety. Baristas create an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience by welcoming guests, helping them find products or resolve issues, and providing attentive service. They maintain the Starbucks dining area, execute food and beverage routines, monitor promotions, and complete cleaning, inventory, replenishment, and food-safety tasks. They also support other guest services and team members as business needs require. Training is provided for the role.

Requirements

Have a welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and fellow team members.
Be able to communicate using multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other technology as directed.
Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
Resolve guest questions quickly.
Demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to follow multistep processes.
Remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks within established timeframes.
Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team-member issues.
Interpret instructions, reports, and information.
Accurately handle cash-register operations as needed.
Climb ladders when needed.
Scan, handle, and move merchandise safely and efficiently; frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 44 pounds without additional assistance.
Work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times; report as scheduled, work scheduled shifts, and take required meal and rest breaks.
Work in refrigeration and freezer environments where common allergens may be handled or present.
Work in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain duties, including Drive Up and carryout.
Remain mobile for the duration of scheduled shifts, which may vary in length.

Previous Starbucks or food-service experience is preferred but not required.

Execute food and beverage processes, including deliveries, replenishment, in-stock routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, organizing, and storing reserve product.
Stay aware of current and upcoming Starbucks promotions.
Maintain an inviting Starbucks dining area throughout the shift and engage with guests according to Starbucks standards.
Prepare handcrafted beverages and food according to recipe-card specifications.
Follow food-safety requirements, including monitoring and recording temperatures of sensitive food items.
Complete and record cleaning tasks in the Starbucks area.
Identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to best practices.
Place store-initiated orders and follow perishable inventory procedures to support accurate in-stocks and inventory records.
Execute sampling best practices and complete required quality-control training and certifications.
Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; follow safety policies and training, and report or correct hazards when possible.
Support guest services such as backup cashiering, order pickup, and Drive Up, while following applicable compliance requirements, including adult-beverage laws.
Perform other duties based on business needs.
