About The Position

The Starbucks Barista is part of Target’s Food & Beverage team, which supports a consistent guest experience by keeping products fresh, available, accurately priced, and properly presented. The role provides guests with a consistent Starbucks experience through handcrafted food and beverages, quality and freshness management, and adherence to food safety and OSHA guidelines. Baristas create a friendly, helpful guest experience while preparing products to recipe specifications, maintaining the Starbucks space and dining area, and completing food and beverage routines. They follow Target and Starbucks standards, safety and compliance requirements, and operational processes. The role also involves supporting other guest services and assisting team members as business needs require.

Requirements

Previous Starbucks or food service experience is preferred but not required.
Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
Ability to communicate using multiple-frequency devices and operate handheld scanners and other directed technology equipment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to resolve guest questions quickly.
Attention to detail and ability to follow multistep processes.
Ability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and complete multiple tasks within established timeframes.
Ability to access all areas of the building, interpret instructions and information, and accurately handle cash register operations as needed.
Ability to climb ladders as needed.
Ability to scan, handle, and move merchandise safely, frequently lifting or moving up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 44 pounds without assistance.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times; report for scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.
Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer conditions where common allergens may be present or handled, and in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing duties such as Drive Up and carryout.
Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift; shift length may vary.

Responsibilities

Greet guests warmly, help them find products or resolve issues, and thank them at the end of each transaction.
Support team efforts, assist peers in other areas, and adjust to business and guest needs while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
Provide a fresh, abundant shopping experience and prioritize guest needs over tasks.
Uphold Food & Beverage standards and complete food and beverage processes, including deliveries, replenishment, inventory routines, data accuracy, culling, rotation, cleaning, signing, organizing, and storing reserve products.
Stay aware of current and future Starbucks promotions.
Follow Target and Starbucks routines to provide a consistent guest experience while working efficiently and maintaining food safety.
Maintain an inviting Starbucks dining area throughout the shift and engage with guests to meet or exceed their expectations.
Prepare handcrafted beverages and food according to recipe specifications.
Monitor and record temperatures for temperature-sensitive food items and complete and record required cleaning tasks.
Identify damaged, recalled, or expired items and process them according to best practices.
Place store-initiated orders and follow perishable inventory procedures to maintain accurate in-stocks and inventory records.
Execute sampling best practices and complete required Starbucks product quality-control training and certifications.
Demonstrate ethical conduct and follow safety and compliance requirements; report hazards and correct them when possible.
Support guest services such as backup cashiering, order pickup, and Drive Up, including compliance with applicable adult beverage laws.
Perform other duties based on business needs.
