About The Position

The STAR Shuttle Driver operates a downtown connector municipal shuttle in St. Augustine. Historic Tours of America has been contracted by the City of St. Augustine to provide staffing and shuttle service; this is not a City of St. Augustine or government position. This is a non-narration role requiring a good sense of fun, a hospitality and customer-service orientation, and excellent driving skills while operating a shuttle on busy public streets.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid Florida Class C or higher CDL with passenger endorsement.
Acceptable driving record for the past three years.
Must pass pre-employment MVR and background checks and substance abuse testing.
Valid DOT physical required.
Ability to safely and competently drive a 24- to 34-foot vehicle on busy public streets or company property.
Ability to work independently for long periods within established rules and regulations.
Ability to deal with unpleasant, angry, or discourteous people in a pleasant, calm, and courteous manner.
Mental composure to handle the stress associated with the job.
Ability to read, write, and speak clear English to communicate with coworkers, the public, law enforcement, and emergency personnel, and to complete required paperwork.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a 24- to 34-foot vehicle carrying passengers on busy public streets multiple times per work shift or on company property.
Meet and interact promptly and courteously with the general public and diverse company employees.
Handle stressful situations and difficult people in person and via radio while maintaining a pleasant, calm, and courteous manner.
Maintain radio contact with dispatch.
Perform daily interior and exterior vehicle inspections.
Accurately complete departmental inspection documents and forms.
