About The Position

The Wall Street Journal is seeking an experienced editor for its Standards and Ethics department. This role is crucial for maintaining the Journal's high standards of fairness, integrity, and ethical, fact-based news reporting. The Standards and Ethics team acts as the newsroom's conscience, ensuring the trust readers have placed in the Journal for over 130 years. The ideal candidate will be a strong advocate for these standards, possess extensive journalistic experience to act as an arbiter and champion of the Journal's journalism, and serve as a final reader for impactful stories and an adjudicator of disputes, always prioritizing the readers' interests.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of journalism experience, including high-level editing and managerial experience in a senior leadership role.
  • A clear sense of fairness, keen news judgment and an unwavering commitment to truth.
  • Significant knowledge of The Wall Street Journal's standards and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Be a champion and defender of the highest-quality, fact-based journalism.
  • Handle pre-publication review of some of our most essential journalism, working with Dow Jones media attorneys and editors to guide reporters.
  • Resolve issues that may come up after publication.
