About The Position

POLITICO is seeking an experienced editor with impeccable judgment for a 12-month, 4-day-per-week contract position. This role is part of the growing global standards and ethics team and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of POLITICO's journalism across all platforms and strengthening reader trust. The editor will uphold POLITICO’s editorial values, ensuring authoritative, nonpartisan, and fair journalism. Key responsibilities include acting as a quality check on all work, providing guidance on ethical questions as they arise, collaborating with other editors on pre-publication reviews of sensitive content, and assisting in writing and updating newsroom policies and stylebook entries. The role also involves contributing to training and development programs for journalists. This 32-hours-a-week position can be based in Arlington, VA, New York, NY, or Sacramento, CA, with a preference for working Eastern Standard Time evenings.
