About The Position

Houston Precision Fasteners produces high strength, close tolerance, fatigue rated fasteners using materials such as alloy steel, 718, titanium, waspaloy, A-286 and multiphase. Our fasteners support most current space programs as well as our nation’s fleet of military aircraft and weapon systems. The Stamping Machine Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating high-speed power presses to produce precision fasteners. Transforming raw metal stock into high-strength components used in mission-critical applications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience operating stamping presses (Minster, Bliss, or similar) in a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools (CMM experience is a plus).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long shifts in non-climate-controlled shop environment.
  • Strong grasp of shop math, including decimals and basic geometry.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with progressive dies or multi-stage stamping.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality standards.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy (specifically high-nickel alloys or stainless steel common in fastener production).

Responsibilities

  • Install, align, and lock specified dies and tools into 20–200-ton presses. Adjust stroke, feed lengths, and pressure settings.
  • Run production lots while constantly monitoring machine performance to prevent tool breakage or part misalignment.
  • Perform frequent in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators to ensure parts meet blueprint specifications.
  • Load heavy metal coils or strips onto decoilers and thread them through straighteners and feeders.
  • Perform basic PM (Preventative Maintenance) on machines, including lubrication and cleaning of die sets.
  • Maintain accurate production logs, part counts and quality rejection reports.
