About The Position

Oaklawn is seeking a talented individual to join their team as a Stakes Coordinator. This seasonal role is responsible for managing stakes nominations for trainers nationwide, ensuring accurate record-keeping of nominated horses, and confirming timely receipt of all required fees. The coordinator will proactively contact horsemen before payment deadlines to verify eligibility and discuss potential entries in stakes races. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Highly organized and detail oriented
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
• Able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
• Must possess the highest of moral integrity and a strong work ethic
• Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain a calm, professional and friendly demeanor in all situations
• Ability to handle several tasks at the same time
• High School Graduate or GED required
• Previous work with thoroughbred horses a must
• Previous race track experience
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.
• Written communication skills in in English may also be required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arkansas Racing License.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for attaining stakes nominations for trainers across the country
• Keep accurate records of all horses nominated for stakes races
• Ensure all fees are received as required by the condition book.
• Contact horsemen before payment deadlines to ensure that horses are eligible for stakes races and to discuss entering a horse in stakes races not previously nominated
• Ability to work required overtime
• Regular punctual attendance required
• Maintains an attitude & philosophy consistent with the company Core Values and Standards of Behavior with internal & external guests

• Other duties as assigned
