About The Position

The Performing Arts Center is seeking a Stagehand/Stage Technician to provide technical support for productions. This role involves loading and unloading trucks, carrying and rolling heavy items related to theater shows, and following instructions for setting up lighting, rigging, and sound systems. The Stage Technician will also provide technical support for productions, coordinate the setup and operation of lighting and sound equipment during shows, and perform maintenance and repairs. This position requires performing technical work involving the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of stage equipment for various theatrical events and conferences.

Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds repetitively.
• Basic knowledge of theater.
• Ability to work unusual hours (early morning load ins, late night load outs).
• Customer service experience working with the public, students, faculty and staff.
• Ability to perform repetitious tasks safely, with attention to detail.
• Honesty, integrity and dependability a must.
• Must be able to work in all conditions safely.
• Advanced knowledge in one or more of the following: theatrical lighting, stage craft, wardrobe, rigging, sound, and video systems.
• Two or more years experience in any theatrical or technical areas expressed above.
• Able to operate digital or computerized system.
• Able to learn new technology.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors and managers in person.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Work experience in a community college/higher education environment.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks.

• Listen and take orders for various tasks including set up of lighting, rigging, and sound systems.
• Provide technical support for productions.

• Operate lighting and sound equipment during shows and productions.

• Install, operate, maintain, and repair stage equipment for theatrical, stage events and conferences.
