The Stagehand I supports the Events Services unit by performing technical work essential to event production across the facility. This position assists with the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of sound, lighting, rigging, and staging equipment, ensuring event spaces are prepared and functioning safely. This position contributes to smooth event operations by executing hands-on production tasks, maintaining equipment and inventories, and supporting load-ins and load-outs. The ideal candidate is a skilled and reliable technical worker with experience in theatrical or event production environments. They should be comfortable working with sound, lighting, rigging, and staging equipment and able to troubleshoot issues during fast-paced event operations. Strong attention to detail, commitment to safe work practices, and the ability to work collaboratively with production teams are essential. The ideal candidate will take initiative, adapt quickly to changing event needs, and maintain a positive service-oriented approach. Under general direction to perform technical work which involves the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of stage equipment for a variety of theatrical events. Incumbents of positions in this class prepare and set up the theater for a variety of professional theatrical productions and operate stage equipment during performances.
