Reporting to the Manager of Operations of Inpatient Nursing, under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, this role schedules all levels of nursing department staff according to budgeted allocations. The Staffing Specialist identifies department-wide and unit specific deficits created by unscheduled absences and vacancies. They arrange adequate coverage for each shift and proactively for future shifts, scheduling float and per diem staff and unit staff as necessary. The role involves entering employee information and work schedules and changes into a computerized resource management system that interfaces with the payroll time and attendance system. Additionally, the Staffing Specialist processes nursing department payroll utilizing the computerized time and attendance system, validating all worked and non-worked hours to assure accuracy. This position performs a variety of complex clerical functions, which requires the use of judgment and knowledge of the department’s systems and operations.
