About The Position

Help individuals move from homelessness to stable, permanent housing. The Staffing Director provides leadership for the 24-hour Resident Support team at The Commons on 16th, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-operated housing environment. This position oversees hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and staff development while ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with program standards. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a passion for Housing First principles, staff development, and supporting individuals transitioning from homelessness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to successfully complete all required background checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or related field preferred. Relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum of one year experience in human services, housing, shelter operations, behavioral health, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience supervising employees in a 24-hour operation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and supervise Resident Support Specialists.
  • Develop employee work schedules that ensure continuous 24-hour staffing coverage.
  • Manage staff attendance, leave requests, scheduling changes, and emergency shift coverage.
  • Conduct regular supervision meetings, performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development.
  • Address employee performance concerns through progressive coaching and disciplinary processes when appropriate.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and trauma-informed workplace culture.
  • Oversee daily operations of the Commons on 16th facility to ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Monitor shift activities and ensure smooth communication between first, second, and third shifts.
  • Review daily shift notes, incident reports, and documentation for quality and follow-up.
  • Coordinate resident intake, move-in, and unit turnover processes with program staff.
  • Ensure facility operations maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff or contractors regarding facility concerns.
  • Ensure staff maintain accurate documentation and complete required data entry.
  • Monitor compliance with program policies, safety procedures, confidentiality standards, and resident expectations.
  • Review incidents and develop corrective actions or training opportunities when necessary.
  • Support implementation of continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and implement onboarding plans for new employees.
  • Coordinate ongoing staff training related to trauma-informed care, de-escalation, safety, documentation, crisis response, and agency policies.
  • Promote staff development and encourage best practices in resident engagement.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of building security procedures, visitor management, curfew expectations, and emergency response protocols.
  • Respond to significant incidents requiring supervisory intervention.
  • Serve as a resource for staff during complex resident situations.
  • Participate in the agency's on-call rotation as assigned.
  • Work closely with the Homeless Systems Manager, case management staff, healthcare providers, outreach teams, and community partners to support coordinated service delivery.
  • Participate in leadership meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with implementation of new operational procedures and organizational priorities.
  • Monitor staffing patterns and identify operational needs.
  • Assist with operational reporting and data collection.
  • Participate in budget planning related to staffing and operational needs.
  • Maintain personnel records and required training documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
