About The Position
The S&B is Grinnell College’s independent, student-run newspaper, founded in 1894. It is an award-winning publication with a monthly readership of more than 75,000 students, alumni, faculty, staff, citizens of Grinnell and many others. The S&B covers everything from breaking news to long-term investigative stories.
Requirements
- Strong writing, researching and interviewing skills.

Responsibilities
- Work with editors to pitch story ideas and produce journalistic content every week.
- Conduct several interviews, develop knowledge of the story topic, redraft the story based on editor edits and clarify missing or inaccurate information.
- Collaborate with editors, writers, visuals/audio/video team on at least one long-form investigative project on a beat of interest (i. social justice, ii. environment and climate, iii. health, iv. legislation and politics, v. lifestyle) per semester.
- Arrange travel to cover stories outside of Grinnell’s campus.
