About The Position

Angell West is seeking a full-time or part-time Staff Cardiologist Veterinarian for their busy and growing hospital located in Waltham, MA. Angell West is a satellite hospital of Angell Animal Medical Center, an emergency, referral, and primary care hospital operating in Boston for over a century. The hospital is over 17,000 square feet and is well-equipped with advanced cardiology equipment, surgical suites, imaging technology, and an on-site laboratory. The cardiology service has the opportunity to collaborate with the cardiac catheterization lab at Angell Boston for specialized procedures. The hospital staff is collegial, including various specialty departments and a robust internship program, supported by a highly trained technician team. This position offers a unique opportunity to practice in a non-corporate, non-profit, referral hospital setting with the support of a larger institution. The caseload is generated through appointments, in-house referrals, the emergency service, and community practice referrals. Angell West is operated by the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), a non-profit organization focused on client service, patient care, and work-life balance, with core values of Collaboration, Compassion, Excellence, Integrity, Positivity, and Service. Professional development is encouraged through various seminars, lunch and learns, journal clubs, and rounds.

Requirements

  • Veterinarian (DVM or equivalent)
  • Completed a rotating internship
  • Aptitude for multi-tasking
  • Ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Practice clinical cardiology in a busy setting.
  • Manage a caseload generated through appointments, in-house referral, emergency service, and referrals from community practices.
  • Collaborate with the Boston team for cardiac catheterization and pacemaker implantation.
  • Communicate effectively with veterinary and technical staff, clients, and referring veterinarians.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and client-focused team environment.
