About The Position

The Staff UX Designer drives user experience solutions and strategy across a small- to medium-sized portfolio of projects. The role translates business needs into actions and roadmaps; evaluates project scope; and designs scalable, reliable, extensible, and maintainable UX frameworks while balancing resources, constraints, requirements, and complexity. It directs project team members in selecting research methods, manages the creation of UX frameworks, process flows, site maps, wireframes, and prototypes, and presents designs for review. The position collaborates with Engineering leads, supervises detailed specifications, and reviews project requirements documents to ensure design is translated correctly. The role advances experience strategy and innovation by evaluating competitive experiences, analyzing trends and forecasts, creating artifacts that describe current conditions and proposed solutions, and developing transitional roadmaps or clarifying existing frameworks. It presents information across the organization to build strategic alignment and encourage change. In collaboration with Engineering Architects, it maintains UX consistency by establishing project needs and success measures, developing near- and long-term UX strategy, analyzing user tasks, improving workflows, participating in usability and brainstorming sessions, and presenting design flows and decisions to senior leadership. The Staff UX Designer also improves UX tools, documentation, and processes; recommends and governs site standards; applies industry research and best practices; and guides the creation of patterns and styles. The role uses user interviews, surveys, journeys, storyboards, contextual inquiries, and existing data to identify gaps between business expectations and user experience strategies. It anticipates risks during information synthesis, develops interaction design solutions, and leads cross-functional projects with partners such as Engineering, site merchandising, and customer advocacy. The position advocates for customers and presents UX decisions to leaders at all levels. The role requires extensive accessibility expertise, including evaluating designs and web applications against accessibility standards, conducting audits and manual and automated testing, advising teams on accessibility practices, and assessing design mockups and prototypes for accessibility before development.
