Staff Technical Program Manager - Autonomous Vehicle Platform

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, CA
•$200,000 - $379,500

About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a deeply technical and experienced Technical Program Manager to join its DRIVE Autonomous Vehicle Platform team. The role leads programs to productize solutions for autonomous vehicles and integrates work across vehicle subsystems—including software, hardware, validation, and systems—into the autonomous DRIVE software platform while meeting applicable NVIDIA and automotive standards and guidelines. It calls for software engineering depth in embedded systems and platform software, and the ability to lead engineering teams with technical credibility, attention to detail, and AI automation. The position oversees multiple concurrent programs from embedded platform bring-up through production release. It drives technologies across the full stack, including embedded operating systems, platform drivers, middleware, sensor integration, and validation, while maintaining quality through rapid automotive software release cycles. The Technical Program Manager translates embedded software expertise into program plans, manages cross-functional and global dependencies, addresses risks affecting scope, schedule, and quality, improves scalable engineering workflows, and communicates progress, risks, and decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 12 or more years of proven experience, including at least 8 years in Technical Program Management driving software engineering programs and commercial product releases.
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems software, including operating system fundamentals such as Linux, QNX, or similar RTOS, platform drivers, sensor middleware, and software/hardware integration.
  • Strong technical competence to engage deeply with engineering teams, debug program-level issues, and make sound trade-off decisions across software and hardware domains.
  • Track record of delivering scalable, complex programs in fast-paced, multifunctional environments.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills, including the ability to explain technical complexity in executive updates and drive alignment across large organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience shipping embedded software in automotive, robotics, or a related domain for reliable operation on constrained, safety-relevant hardware.
  • Direct experience in autonomous vehicle platform development, including ADAS software integration, sensor fusion stacks, or platform validation.
  • Familiarity with automotive-grade software standards such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, or equivalent, and their relationship to program execution.
  • Experience leading global programs across time zones with geographically distributed engineering teams.
  • Expertise in Agile and Scrum methodology.
  • PMP or Scrum Master certification.
  • Proficiency with Jira and PMP tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple concurrent, complex autonomous driving platform programs from embedded platform bring-up through production release.
  • Drive platform technologies across the full stack, including embedded operating systems, platform drivers, middleware, sensor integration, and validation.
  • Manage automotive software development and releases in a dynamic environment while maintaining quality across rapid release cadences.
  • Define program scope, roadmaps, schedules, and milestones using deep embedded software knowledge.
  • Identify and resolve risks and issues affecting release scope, schedule, and quality, particularly across software and hardware boundaries.
  • Proactively identify and lead multifunctional dependencies, including those across global engineering teams.
  • Improve team processes and procedures and streamline day-to-day operations using scalable engineering workflows and AI.
  • Communicate with team members to set expectations and provide timely updates on progress, risks, and decisions.
