About The Position

Here at Scout Motors, we're carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again. But Scout is more than just a brand, it’s a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work. The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasn’t been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements — an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester™ range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range. At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Someone who is a visionary and a leader, who seeks new paths and shares lessons learned. A knowledgeable doer who collaborates across the company to build better. A go-getter with unrivaled passion. Join us at Scout Motors and be part of shaping the future of transportation. If you're ready to drive change and make history, apply now!

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product management experience, with a strong emphasis on consumer facing digital products.
  • Demonstrated success in building and launching complex digital experiences enjoyed by millions —or billions — of people around the world.
  • Zero-to-one experience, especially as it relates to consumer mobile products
  • A clear sense of what good software looks like.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture, APIs, and cloud technologies.
  • Strong understanding of native app development (iOS and Android), with demonstrated, real-world experience shipping products to consumers
  • Conversant in the language of software, including pros/cons of native vs. cross-platform development
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Data-driven decision-making abilities and experience with tools for analytics and performance measurement.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, though demonstrated experience in building real-world product development is far more critical.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive and/or IoT experience is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead product strategy: Develop the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for energy, charging, and connected services. You will drive product development from zero-to-one, bringing to life a world-class product experience and ensuring alignment with overarching business goals. You will own the full development stack, from ideation through development, translating business needs into actionable work items. Given Scout's nascency, you should be extremely comfortable navigating ambiguity in early-stage startups to formulate concrete, actionable plans.
  • Build for humans: Act as a customer advocate, crafting experiences that enhance the vehicle ownership experience and differentiate Scout in the marketplace. Be disagreeable and don't accept anything less than a class-defining experience for customers. Be ridiculously collaborative: Partner with cross-functional teams, including our Charging team, vehicle user experience (VUX) team, R&D, software engineering, and third party service providers, to design and deliver innovative digital products that help customers manage their vehicle, charge, and pay for services. Be ready to drive alignment with many competing stakeholders.
  • Manage (a lot of) relationships: Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external partners, presenting solutions that align with broader business goals. Be a natural relationship builder and clear communicator.
  • Operationalize products: Oversee the roll-out of technical solutions to the marketplace, ensuring performance, reliability and consumer adoption achieve agreed upon outcomes.
  • Drive technical excellence: Build relationships with software engineering to ensure scalable, efficient, and secure delivery. Leverage expertise in system architecture, APIs, and data integration to support technical decisions.
  • Measure success: Define KPIs and success metrics to track product and platform performance, using data to refine and improve over time
