Staff Technical Account Manager

About The Position

Gambit is the AI-native resilience platform that ensures digital continuity never expires. It unifies governance across cloud, backups, security tools, and IaC; mapping applications, identifying gaps, and validating recovery paths in real time. Gambit turns resilience assumptions into business certainty before an incident ever occurs. As a Staff Technical Account Manager, you will own our most strategic and most technically complex accounts: a deliberately small book, carried deep. You will run the relationship from kickoff through renewal: leading onboarding and business application mapping, translating Balens findings into prioritized remediation plans that customers actually fund and execute, running quarterly business reviews with CISOs and infrastructure leaders, building the evidence packages their auditors ask for, and owning escalations when things go wrong. You will be the person a customer's security and infrastructure leadership calls first. This role sits at the intersection of cyber resilience, cloud infrastructure, backup and disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance. You will spend your time reasoning about backup coverage and immutability, restore point integrity, infrastructure drift, RTO and RPO targets that the business actually holds, and control-level evidence for frameworks like DORA, NIS2, SOX, SOC 2, and NIST. You do not need to have deployed the platform yourself, but you do need to be technical enough to lead the conversation, judge whether an answer is right, and know when something we are telling a customer does not hold up.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in technical account management, customer success engineering, technical consulting, solutions architecture, or post-sale technical delivery, with at least 4 years owning enterprise or strategic accounts directly
  • Deep working knowledge of at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including compute, storage, identity, and networking fundamentals, with real fluency in how enterprises actually run hybrid environments
  • Hands-on familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity: backup policies, retention, immutability and WORM, replication, snapshot and restore point hygiene, RTO and RPO planning, and recovery testing
  • Working understanding of infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar) and how infrastructure drift happens in practice
  • Experience supporting customers through security and compliance programs, with practical exposure to at least one of DORA, NIS2, SOX, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or NIST CSF and 800-53
  • Comfortable working with APIs and structured data to answer your own questions: reading and querying an API, working with JSON and GraphQL, and building analyses in spreadsheets or notebooks without waiting on someone else
  • Experience working with agentic AI tooling or MCP-based integrations in a customer-facing context
  • Demonstrated ownership of retention and growth outcomes in a post-sale role, including renewal risk management and expansion identification
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a portfolio of executive-facing deliverables you personally built
  • Experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup, and comfort operating without established process
  • Experience mentoring peers, setting team standards, or building playbooks adopted beyond your own accounts
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Open to up to 25% travel for on-site customer events including business reviews, workshops, and enablement, as well as for attending industry events

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a cyber resilience, backup and recovery, data protection, CSPM, or observability vendor
  • Direct experience with enterprise backup platforms such as Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, Commvault, or native cloud backup services
  • Prior hands-on experience as a cloud, infrastructure, SRE, or security engineer earlier in your career

Responsibilities

  • Own the post-sale relationship and outcomes for a small book of the most strategic enterprise accounts, from kickoff through renewal
  • Lead onboarding: define success criteria in writing, drive the implementation plan, coordinate agentless connection of cloud accounts, IaC repositories, and backup platforms, and validate business application mapping, criticality tiering, and RTO and RPO targets with the customer
  • Interpret and translate Balens findings into prioritized, customer-specific remediation plans tied to business impact, engineering effort, cloud cost, and risk retired, so that customers can fund and execute the work
  • Lead recurring posture reviews covering resilience score movement, infrastructure drift, backup coverage gaps, immutability violations, and unhealthy restore points
  • Advise on backup policy design, retention and immutability configuration, cross-region and cross-account isolation, and validated clean recovery paths; facilitate recovery readiness and tabletop exercises against real business applications
  • Build control-level compliance evidence packages for internal audit, external auditors, and regulators across DORA, NIS2, SOX, SOC 1, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST CSF 2.0, and NIST 800-53 Rev 5
  • Own the quarterly business review with executive sponsors: outcomes achieved, posture trend, risk retired, roadmap, and the ask
  • Produce executive-facing deliverables, including resilience posture assessments, peer benchmarks, and cost-of-remediation analyses, written for a CISO audience and verified against real data
  • Own adoption for your accounts: track active users, adoption breadth beyond the original champion, feature adoption, and resource consumption against contracted entitlement, and intervene before decay becomes a renewal problem
  • Own escalations end to end: triage, route to Support, Solutions Engineering, or R&D, communicate on a committed cadence, and confirm resolution with the customer, including during severity-one events and during the customer's own incidents
  • Maintain a live risk register and renewal readiness assessment for every account, and raise churn risk early and in writing with a mitigation plan attached
  • Identify expansion signals and hand them to the Account Executive with the technical justification already built; support commercial conversations as the technical trusted advisor
  • Represent your customers to Product and R&D with ranked, evidence-backed demand rather than one-off asks, and close the loop with customers when something ships
  • Build and refine the function: create the playbooks, templates, and reusable analyses the TAM team will operate on, and act as the escalation partner and technical mentor for other Technical Account Managers
  • Maintain accurate systems of record in Salesforce and the CS toolchain, and report honestly on the state of the book, including the parts that are not going well

Benefits

  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • A $350 work-from-home stipend to create a setup that helps you do your best work
  • Work alongside smart, supportive, and collaborative co-workers who are excited to build something meaningful together
