The goal of a Systems Engineer focused on our Ground Control Station at Wisk is to ensure all aspects of the Flight Test Ground Control Station and Airborne Comms hardware and software are developed and maintained in support of the Wisk Gen 6 flight test campaign. You will be supporting the Digital Products department within the Software and Simulation Systems (S3) organization. The Digital Products team is responsible for the complete life cycle for software and firmware used across our aircraft and ground systems. In this role you will have the opportunity to leave a lasting impact on aviation by designing and developing systems for an autonomous passenger carrying eVTOL service by defining systems required to communicate with our aircraft, deliver C2-link airborne avionics software and ground infrastructure and be responsible for the collection and distribution of data between our aircraft and ground systems. You will also define the systems which support integration and test of the Flight Test Ground Control software required for the flight test campaign.

Requirements

BS in CS, AE, ME, EE, or equivalent, with 8 years of relevant experience
Worked in aircraft, avionics, autonomous vehicles or remotely piloted aircraft field
Familiar with using GitLab, Polarion, and Teamcenter
Detailed and technically oriented with the ability to work proactively and effectively with minimal supervision, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast paced and challenging environment
Strong and applied understanding in aviation documentation standards and the ability to produce high-quality, compliant manuals, CONOPS, and test documentation
Experience reading and understanding ICDs
Experienced in requirements verification and HW/SW testing and debugging
Ability to read schematics and perform basic hardware debugging
Hands-on experience defining system requirements to customer release
Strong and applied understanding of the agile development process
Familiar with FAA certified systems on prior programs/project
Familiarity with ARP4754A, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4761, Part 23/25, regulations, AC XX.1309, or similar standards

Responsibilities

Act as a Systems Engineer for a novel aircraft targeting the autonomous UAM market
Take part in the scoping, design and implementation of safety-critical and non-safety-critical hardware and software related to the Flight Test Ground Control Station and Airborne Communications Systems
Contribute to a high-performing team to develop functions, architecture, and requirements, integrate system interfaces, and establish process strategies
Develop, maintain, and release SE artifacts such as operating manuals, ICDs, and test procedures and results
Define, document, and execute technical solutions and cross-project integrations—collaborating with flight test, software development, and external partners to lead architecture trade studies that balance stakeholder needs with performance, size, weight, power, and safety requirements
Help define safety-critical system architectures to ensure full compliance with FAA and EASA regulations
