About The Position

Deploy is an intelligence infrastructure platform that gives developers and enterprises access to open-source and proprietary AI models. The company operates an optimized inference engine for leading open-source LLMs and offers proprietary models for content safety, AI and deepfake detection, sponsorship intelligence, and intellectual property and publicity protection. The Staff Software Engineer will help build and launch products and features in production, working autonomously and addressing challenges of scale. The role focuses on building core services and web-based APIs, contributing to product and technical decisions, and writing clean, maintainable code. The engineer will work across backend systems such as REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing, and distributed task and job processing systems. Responsibilities also include production debugging, security practices, engineering improvements, and participation in on-call rotations as needed. The position requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field and at least eight years of experience building web applications. The expected base salary is $200,000–$300,000. Employees are eligible for company-sponsored health, vision, and dental insurance, a gym membership, and paid vacation under company policy. Stock options may also be offered.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
At least 8 years of experience building web applications.
Successful implementation of highly available distributed systems or microservices.
Experience delivering scalable backend APIs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a bias toward action.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, or improve features in backend systems, including REST APIs, microservices, data ingestion and processing systems, and distributed task/job processing systems.
Write and maintain scalable, performant, secure code that can be shared across platforms.
Contribute to the product and core backend systems by suggesting and executing improvements.
Improve engineering standards, tooling, processes, and security.
Practice test-driven development.
Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
Participate in on-call rotations as needed to ensure prompt and effective resolution of critical technical issues.
Use OWASP Top 10 techniques to secure code from vulnerabilities.
Maintain awareness of industry best practices for data maintenance handling relevant to the role.
Follow policies, guidelines, and procedures for protecting information assets.
Report actual or suspected security or policy violations or breaches to an appropriate authority.
