About The Position

The Staff Software Engineer will lead Walmart International’s Supply Chain Backend team, overseeing the architecture, development, and maintenance of supply chain solutions for customers, operators, and sellers. The role calls for a hands-on engineer with strong distributed-systems expertise who can build and mentor high-performing teams. The International Technology team supports Walmart’s warehouses, stores, and eCommerce operations worldwide outside the United States. Within it, the Omni Supply Chain group builds supply chain solutions, and the Unified Fulfilment team develops cloud-native warehouse-management systems for Walmart International. These systems support inventory distribution and order fulfilment through transaction processing, storage optimization, and fulfilment strategies. The Staff Engineer sets architecture standards for the Warehouse Management System (WMS), represents WMS in cross-organizational architecture discussions, and works with shared cloud infrastructure and data platform teams. The role designs scalable, high-throughput, low-latency microservices using domain-driven design, event-driven patterns such as Kafka, and API-first principles. It also advances observability, engineering excellence, reliability, and the technical growth of other engineers. The position requires a degree in computer science or a related technical field, or qualifying software-engineering experience under the stated minimum qualifications. The posting describes experience with cloud-based resilient and scalable systems, Java and related backend technologies, cloud infrastructure, and containerization. Walmart lists an annual salary range of $110,000 to $220,000, with additional performance-based bonuses and, for certain positions, stock. The primary location is 701 Respect Dr, Bentonville, Arkansas.
