About The Position

OPENLANE is seeking a software engineering leader to build and maintain scalable, cloud-native APIs and high-value core system components as part of its Enterprise Technology Services team. The role focuses on continuously improving core offerings, contributing to platform modernization and AI transformation, and helping deliver real-time marketplace systems at scale. The engineer will lead technical discussions on software architecture and testing, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and apply experience in application development, front-end JavaScript frameworks, telemetry, and performance tuning. The role calls for an AI-forward, product-minded, ownership-driven, technically curious, and quality-focused approach, including active use of AI development tools and critical evaluation of their outputs. The core technology stack includes .NET Core, React or Svelte, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes in AWS, and OpenTelemetry. The position is remote. The stated annual salary range is $135,000–$190,000 USD, depending on experience, skills, qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Requirements

At least 8 years of experience building scalable, cloud-native APIs with .NET, preferably .NET Core, Java, or Kotlin.
A university degree or advanced diploma in a software engineering-related discipline, preferably Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks such as React.
Experience with telemetry and performance tuning using modern APM tooling.
Strong understanding of application development, including development and testing methodologies.
Active use of AI development tools such as code copilots, AI debuggers, or test generators.
Interest in applying AI to real customer and business problems.
Ability to critically evaluate AI outputs rather than blindly accepting them.
Product-mindedness, ownership, technical curiosity, and a commitment to clean, maintainable code and production-ready engineering standards.

Nice To Haves

Experience with modern APM tooling.
Experience with Kubernetes and OpenTelemetry.
Experience with Svelte front-end frameworks.
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
