About The Position

This is a remote, independent-contractor consulting opportunity for experienced Software Engineers contributing to an advanced AI training and software-evaluation project. The work involves developing and refining features in established open-source repositories, diagnosing complex defects, refactoring legacy code, improving performance, and producing robust implementations across multiple programming languages. No prior AI-training or model-evaluation experience is required. The role also includes reviewing AI-generated software solutions for correctness, completeness, efficiency, and maintainability, then providing structured feedback to support model improvement. Project scope, repositories, languages, and evaluation standards may change according to project requirements. Work must not use confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, private repository, software organisation, or other third party. The engagement is fully remote. Compensation is displayed as $50–$100 per hour, but the actual structure is output-based, with payment per task that meets project specifications. Task completion time may vary, and minimum weekly submission requirements apply; the exact number of required tasks is not specified. Selected experts are expected to begin initial tasks approximately 24–48 hours after onboarding. Roles are typically filled within approximately 48 hours.

Requirements

  • Expert-level proficiency in at least two of the following: Python, C++, Java, Rust, TypeScript, Go, or C#.
  • Extensive experience contributing to open-source software.
  • Strong feature-development, debugging, refactoring, and optimisation skills.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms and data structures.
  • Strong code-review and validation skills.
  • Excellent attention to technical detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote collaborative environment.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality, well-documented code under project deadlines.
  • Meet minimum weekly submission requirements; the exact number of required tasks is not specified.
  • Complete work without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to an employer, client, private repository, software organisation, or other third party.

Nice To Haves

  • Competitive-programming or advanced coding-problem experience is highly valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and refine features within established open-source repositories, following existing architecture and contribution standards.
  • Integrate functionality with existing modules and dependencies, and validate changes against expected project behaviour.
  • Reproduce and diagnose complex software defects, trace execution and data flow, and identify root causes.
  • Refactor legacy code to improve clarity, modularity, and maintainability while preserving expected behaviour.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and improve runtime or resource utilisation.
  • Apply appropriate engineering conventions across multiple programming languages.
  • Apply algorithms and data structures to challenging problems, analyse constraints and alternative approaches, and evaluate time and space complexity.
  • Review code for correctness, consistency, maintainability, and architectural fit; identify subtle defects and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Write concise technical explanations of design, debugging, and implementation decisions, and maintain project documentation where required.
  • Collaborate remotely with other contributors and deliver well-documented work under project deadlines.
  • Review AI-generated software solutions for correctness, completeness, efficiency, and maintainability; identify weaknesses and provide structured feedback supporting model improvement.
