About The Position

As a Staff Software Engineer on the Marketplace Platform team, you will lead the design and maintenance of frameworks that enhance Walmart’s Marketplace for sellers and channel partners. You’ll code, debug, optimize, and monitor application health to ensure reliable performance. You’ll mentor junior engineers and collaborate with product and UX/UI teams to deliver seamless integrations. You will also help manage the Walmart Marketplace Platform API, enabling third-party sellers to leverage Solution Partner services effectively. Requirements

  • Frontend experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, and Webpack
  • Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, system design, and microservices architecture
  • Java backend experience, including extensive Spring Boot
  • Proficient with Git and CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiar with containerization and Kubernetes
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, plus caching solutions
  • Experience on platform teams or building shared tools/frameworks for developers
  • Proven ability to write clean, testable, maintainable code
  • Cloud-native experience (GCP/Azure) and DevOps practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership: leading projects and mentoring junior engineers
  • Experience in e-commerce or marketplace platforms
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Open-source contributions or internal platform evangelism a plus
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Spend most time hands-on coding across frontend/backend; review code, debug, and optimize to uphold best practices.
  • Build responsive UIs with JavaScript, HTML/CSS, React, and Webpack; ensure consistent, seamless UX.
  • Develop scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and microservices; integrate smoothly with the frontend.
  • Mentor teammates and promote continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive architecture/design decisions; stay current on emerging tech; maintain clear documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve user experience and integrations.
  • Own app health: monitoring, quality, performance, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Lead innovation/tech initiatives; champion new tools and approaches.
  • Plan/manage tasks and timelines to deliver high-quality work on schedule.
  • Provide technical leadership; coordinate execution across teams.
