About The Position

The (USA) Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities by leading software development and infrastructure initiatives aligned with strategic roadmaps. This position involves driving the full software lifecycle, applying cloud-native architecture principles, and integrating AI/ML technologies to enhance automation and product functionality. The role requires technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality, maintainable solutions. The engineer will engage stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable requirements, promote engineering excellence, and continuously improve processes to support business objectives and innovation. The Display Ad Serving team delivers scalable programmatic advertising solutions supporting Walmart Connect’s growth across web and app platforms. The team emphasizes strong platform design, iterative development, and AI integration to build reliable software. Members collaborate to develop and maintain high-quality services and APIs, ensuring seamless ad delivery across devices. Focused on continuous improvement, innovation, and effective cross-functional communication, the team fosters a dynamic environment where engineers pursue technical excellence and impactful product delivery aligned with business goals.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to build scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and other programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, and C++ for AI/ML integration and software development.
  • Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including design reviews, CI/CD deployment, testing, and maintenance.
  • Ability to design APIs and develop software prototypes to validate technical solutions and gather feedback.
  • Demonstrated skills in mentoring engineers and influencing architectural decisions to ensure quality and sustainability.
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
