HID powers the trusted identities of the world’s people, places, and things, allowing people to transact safely, work productively and travel freely. We are a high-tech software company headquartered in Austin, TX, with over 4,500 worldwide employees. The Identity and Access Management Solutions (IAMS) division focuses on protecting user identities, with HID Global IAM products protecting more than 85 million user identities. This philosophy of Zero Trust drives advancements in risk-based multi-factor authentication, securing user identities in converged access environments, and expanding implementations with digital certificates and PKIaaS solutions. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will support HID's success by providing enterprise architecture guidance, helping define and evolve the technical vision with a focus on microservices and replaceability, and evaluating/recommending technology choices to align with business strategy and future adaptation. You will maintain awareness of industry standards and emerging technologies, seek out software architecture education opportunities, and share learnings. Responsibilities include developing new applications, maintaining existing ones, identifying and deprecating obsolete code, and preserving/automating the deployment of source code and software assets via CI/CD. You will work collaboratively with other developers, providing input, direction, and vision for product implementation, and act as a technical mentor for Software Engineering and QA team members, guiding them in design while steering them clear of problematic practices. You will also create, publish, and evangelize development and data model standards and guidelines, participate in code reviews, and work closely with engineering and product owners to understand functional requirements. Maintaining consistency with the company’s technical vision, providing third-tier support, and guiding/consulting with other engineering teams on critical design or performance issues are also key aspects of the role. This includes evaluating technologies, evangelizing standards, and defining long-term strategies, as well as developing and modernizing code and systems, automating using pipelines, and supporting critical issues. You will guide peer engineers, steer software design, review engineering output, and translate business requirements while educating the organization.
