Staff+ Software Engineer, Enterprise Connectivity

Anthropic•San Francisco, CA
•$405,000 - $485,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Anthropic is hiring a technical leader to own enterprise connector activation end to end, from discovery through first successful use and ongoing adoption. The role will improve activation funnels, build experiments and onboarding flows, and make connector setup close to zero-touch using open standards such as Cross App Access (XAA) and the MCP authorization spec. The engineer will help improve popular connectors such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, establish reusable platform foundations for the connector ecosystem, and build enterprise controls and governance that enable secure adoption at scale. The position partners with product, design, data science, and sales; uses usage data and customer feedback to set priorities; and sets technical direction, standards, and mentorship for the team.

Requirements

  • Experience shipping growth or activation work, including onboarding flows, funnels, experimentation, and measurement of usage.
  • Comfort with authorization and identity technologies such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SSO, and the ability to simplify setup without compromising security.
  • Experience building on large platform APIs such as Microsoft Graph or Google Workspace and debugging failures across system boundaries.
  • Experience building platform or ecosystem surfaces relied on by other teams or developers, with an emphasis on durable, well-designed APIs.
  • Understanding of enterprise administrators' and security teams' needs for policy, permissions, and governance at scale.
  • Ability to use data and user research to guide product decisions and explain tradeoffs to product and design partners.
  • Ability to drive cross-team and cross-company alignment and ship through influence.
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Relevant field of study, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, ideally including 2+ years at Staff level or equivalent technical leadership.
  • Contributions to or implementation of emerging authorization standards, such as IETF OAuth drafts or MCP authorization.
  • Experience with data governance or information protection, such as sensitivity labels or DLP.
  • Experience building admin consoles or policy engines for multi-tenant SaaS.
  • Experience running growth experiments on activation funnels.
  • Experience building AI products or agent tool integrations, including MCP.
  • Experience helping grow a developer or partner ecosystem around a platform.

Responsibilities

  • Own connector activation end to end, measuring the funnel from discovery to first use and habit, identifying drop-offs, and addressing them.
  • Build and run experiments on default connectors, in-product suggestions, connector requests, and onboarding flows.
  • Make setup close to zero-touch, using standards such as Cross App Access (XAA) and the MCP authorization spec.
  • Improve the first-use experience and ongoing reliability of commonly used connectors, including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Build reusable platform foundations that make connectors easier to launch, discover, and activate.
  • Develop enterprise admin controls and governance, including domain restrictions, labels, and permissions.
  • Partner with product, design, data science, and sales to turn usage data and customer feedback into priorities.
  • Set technical direction and standards, mentor engineers, and lead through influence.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Optional equity donation matching.
  • Generous vacation and parental leave.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Office space for collaboration.
