About The Position

Empower Pharmacy is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to deliver high-impact full stack engineering across critical platforms supporting growth in a regulated 503A/503B pharmacy environment. The role owns end-to-end feature development, system reliability, and performance optimization, using AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, enhance code quality, and support decision-making. It works across frontend, backend, and data layers to deliver scalable, compliant, and secure solutions. The engineer designs, builds, and deploys full stack features; develops and maintains APIs, services, and integrations; optimizes application performance; troubleshoots production issues; and implements monitoring and reliability practices. The role collaborates with product managers, designers, and engineers in an agile environment and maintains technical documentation to support knowledge sharing and compliance readiness.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
10+ years of full stack development experience, including frontend frameworks, backend services, and database management, with a track record of shipping scalable, high-quality applications.
Expertise in distributed systems, backend architecture, and microservices design at enterprise scale.
Strong production proficiency with React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and TypeScript.
Strong production proficiency with Java, Spring Boot, Node.js, and Python.
Strong proficiency in GraphQL and/or Node.js-based development for distributed platform integration.
Deep understanding of performance optimization, system reliability, and observability practices.
Ability to design systems that meet regulatory, security, and data integrity requirements.
Experience in agile development environments, contributing to iterative delivery and continuous integration and deployment practices while maintaining code quality and system reliability.
Ability to leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve coding efficiency, testing, and debugging.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and deploy full stack features across frontend and backend systems, using AI-assisted tools while meeting scalability, maintainability, regulatory, and business requirements.
Write clean, testable, and efficient code and use modern frameworks and AI-driven code review tools to uphold performance, security, and reliability standards.
Develop and maintain APIs, services, and integrations across internal and external systems, supporting seamless data flow, high availability, and compliance.
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across application layers using monitoring tools and AI-driven insights.
Troubleshoot production issues using structured debugging and AI-assisted diagnostics to minimize downtime.
Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting to detect issues proactively and improve system stability and uptime.
Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into technical solutions and align on priorities, timelines, and regulatory constraints.
Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives, and improve team delivery using data and AI insights.
Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation to support knowledge sharing, system transparency, and compliance readiness.
