We are seeking a highly motivated and productive Staff Scientist to support dissemination of research led by Dr. Alicia Allen, Director of the National Center for Opioid & Addiction Research (NCOAR) at the Arkansas Children’s Research Institute. This role aligns with the Pamela D. Stephens Endowed Chair in Maternal and Fetal Health Research, advancing innovative, interdisciplinary work to improve maternal and infant outcomes by identifying causes of birth defects and adverse pregnancy outcomes. The position will focus on transforming data on maternal substance use disorder and pregnancy outcomes into high-impact scientific products, including abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and presentations. The Staff Scientist will partner with multidisciplinary investigators to synthesize findings, lead and contribute to scientific writing, and ensure timely, high-impact dissemination to academic, clinical, and community audiences. In doing so, this role will help elevate the visibility and impact of endowed chair–supported work and accelerate the translation of evidence into practice, policy, and improved maternal and child health outcomes. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and collaborative scientist that thrives in both a team setting and while working independently. This individual should also have strong writing and analytic skills, and a passion for translating rigorous research into meaningful, real-world impact. A Staff Scientist supports the research of a faculty-rank investigator. A Staff Scientist, under general direction and with considerable latitude for exercise of independent judgment, provides direct research and research training support at the professional level by executing small, non-complex research projects or major aspects of larger research projects. This individual may provide extensive guidance to technicians, laboratory aides, graduate students, undergraduate students, postdoctoral appointees, and professional staff. Makes innovative contributions to research in his/her academic discipline. Possesses the subject matter expertise and the creative energy necessary to function at a high level of competence. The Staff Scientist works independently with oversight provided by the Investigator(s) and has sophisticated skills and knowledge essential to the laboratory's work. This individual is capable of independently designing experiments and assisting one or more faculty members in results interpretation, publication, and faculty member pursuit of grant or other funding.
