Requirements

  • PhD required
  • 4 years of relevant postdoctoral training or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Virology, cell biology, molecular biology, and neurology
  • Willingness to be trained
  • Assay development
  • Data interpretation and presentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot as needed

Responsibilities

  • Identify/design and interpret experiments related to using iPSC-derived microglia to investigate HIV neurotoxicity.
  • Examine the regulation of HIV infection in microglia.
  • Scientific writing for manuscripts including design and construction of figures, must be facile with Adobe suite and Prism software.
  • Supervision of students and training of laboratory members as needed.
  • Serves as a resource for standard protocols, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
  • Perform experiments using techniques that include standard virology, molecular biology, and cell biology approaches.
  • Lab management responsibilities, including maintenance of records, ordering, biosafety compliance.
  • Coordinates with and contacts outside vendors and technical representatives for routine equipment maintenance and supply inquiries.
  • Informed about trends in field by reading professional journals, attends/participates in lab meetings, and, as appropriate, external meetings and seminars.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
