Staff Scientist in mRNA translational control The Lapointe Lab (Basic Sciences Division, Fred Hutch) is hiring a Staff Scientist. The scientist will apply state-of-the-art biochemical and in vitro single-molecule microscopy assays to human mRNA translation initiation. The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in single-molecule spectroscopy and be comfortable working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. Requirements

  • Ph.D. degree in biophysics, or a related discipline
  • Multiple first-author research papers in peer-reviewed journals
  • Extensive experience with single-molecule spectroscopy including microscope building and data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation
  • A strong foundation in hypothesis-driven, basic research
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Independently motivated to think, plan, conduct, analyze, and document experiments and findings
  • A strong track-record of mentoring and engaging with students
