About The Position

Provides professional nursing care using the nursing process for patients from early pregnancy through birth, including vaginal or cesarean delivery, and care for newborn neonates. Coordinates care planning with other disciplines. Uses critical thinking to prioritize, solve problems, and communicate through the chain of command. Individualizes patient treatment to reflect each patient’s developmental needs and range of treatment needs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must possess a current California RN license.
• Must possess BLS certification.
• Must obtain ACLS certification within 90 days of hire or status change.
• Must obtain NRP within 60 days of hire or status change.
• Must obtain a Basic Fetal Monitoring certificate within 60 days of hire if the nurse has no Labor & Delivery experience or is a new graduate.
• Experienced Labor & Delivery RNs must possess current Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification or Electronic Fetal Monitoring as a condition of employment.
• Nurses with no Labor & Delivery experience and new graduates must obtain Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification within one year of hire or status change and every two years thereafter, unless they have Electronic Fetal Monitoring.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring is accepted in lieu of Basic and Advanced Fetal Monitoring and must be kept renewed.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• At least one year of nursing experience in Maternal Child Services preferred.
• Labor & Delivery experience preferred.
