About The Position

Provides general nursing care to patients and families throughout the continuum of care in diverse, acute health care settings. The RN is accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing and delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) using the criteria written in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. According to department policies and nursing care standards, provides professional nursing care services to patients. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care provided to assigned patients. Labor and Delivery Flex nurses provide inpatient clinical support across multiple OhioHealth care sites including Riverside, Grant, Doctors, Dublin, Pickerington, Berger, Marion and Mansfield. Each shift offers a unique experience, as Flex associates may be assigned to a different care site labor and delivery unit. Assignments are communicated anywhere from two hours to several weeks in advance. This role is ideal for confident, adaptable clinicians who are comfortable asking questions, seeking clarification when needed, and quickly adjusting to the workflows and expectations of different units. Flex nurses must be able to work independently while delivering high-quality patient care in the labor and delivery clinical setting. In addition to the opportunity to gain experience across diverse care environments throughout OhioHealth, Flex associates receive float pay and mileage reimbursement.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license from the State of Ohio
  • BLS certification
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • One year of nursing experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years labor and delivery experience
  • EFM certification

Responsibilities

  • Performs initial, ongoing, and functional health status assessment as applicable to the population and or individual (30%).
  • Based on nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems, documents planned nursing interventions to achieve outcomes appropriate to patient needs (30%).
  • Evaluates and documents response to nursing interventions and achievement of outcomes at appropriately determined intervals; as part of a multidisciplinary team, revises plan of care based on evaluative data (20%).
  • Actively participates in process improvement activities to achieve targeted measures of clinical quality, customer satisfaction, and financial performance (10%).
  • Operations (10%).
  • As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
