Provides general nursing care to patients and families throughout the continuum of care in diverse, acute health care settings. The RN is accountable for the practice of nursing as defined by the Ohio Board of Nursing and delegates nursing tasks to licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and unlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) using the criteria written in the Ohio Nurse Practice Act. According to department policies and nursing care standards, provides professional nursing care services to patients. Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care provided to assigned patients. Labor and Delivery Flex nurses provide inpatient clinical support across multiple OhioHealth care sites including Riverside, Grant, Doctors, Dublin, Pickerington, Berger, Marion and Mansfield. Each shift offers a unique experience, as Flex associates may be assigned to a different care site labor and delivery unit. Assignments are communicated anywhere from two hours to several weeks in advance. This role is ideal for confident, adaptable clinicians who are comfortable asking questions, seeking clarification when needed, and quickly adjusting to the workflows and expectations of different units. Flex nurses must be able to work independently while delivering high-quality patient care in the labor and delivery clinical setting.
