About The Position

This is a full-time position for a Staff RN in the Critical Care-CTICU unit. The role involves assisting patients through their episode of care with a focus on quality and safety. The nurse will delegate, direct, oversee, and provide developmentally appropriate patient care, practicing professional nursing and promoting patient advocacy. The unit has 20 beds, including 12 closed-door rooms and 8 open bay rooms, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 (high acuity is 2:1). The patient population includes individuals from birth to late adulthood with congenital heart defects, acquired heart disease, pre & post-surgical conditions, and those undergoing heart & lung transplants. The unit also cares for ECMO and VAD patients.

Requirements

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
• Current CPR certification required.
• BSN; Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire.
• Quality and safety patient care skills
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to provide culturally competent care with a demonstrated commitment to ensuring quality and safety initiatives.
• Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON or other necessary certification as determined by your manager based on business unit.

Nice To Haves

• External candidates with at least one year critical care, RN experience may be eligible for a $10k signing bonus with a 24-month commitment.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
• Assesses individualized patient needs.
• Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Patient Care Assistants (PCAs), Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel.
• Plans, implements, educates and evaluates care using Evidence-Based Practices.
• Utilizes Therapeutic Communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
• Engages in the “workplace community” by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.
• Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.

Benefits

• Minimum pay - $36.90 per hr plus shift and weekend differentials
• $2.00 per hr increase upon successful completion of unit orientation
• $10k signing bonus for external candidates with at least one year critical care, RN experience (24 month commitment)
