About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. The incumbent will provide a full range of clinical services as a member of a multidisciplinary team that provides services for Veterans experiencing problems with homelessness, mental health diagnoses, psychosocial challenges, and/or substance use disorders. The Psychologist conducts assessments of personality and cognitive functioning to help inform the development of treatment plans and support Veteran's recovery and well-being. Psychologists in the MHRRTP practice on an interdisciplinary team, providing crisis interventions, evidenced-based psychotherapies, and measurement-based care.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Subject to background/security investigation.
  • Must complete an online onboarding process.
  • Must provide acceptable forms of identification.
  • Must participate in the seasonal influenza vaccination program.
  • Must complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section.
  • Must serve a 1 or 2-year trial period.
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited graduate program, OR a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with a completed re-specialization program in an APA or CPA accredited doctoral program, OR a doctoral degree awarded between 1951-1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature.
  • Successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program accredited by APA or CPA, OR a new VHA psychology internship program in the process of applying for APA accreditation sanctioned by VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and VHA Office of Academic Affiliations, OR VHA facilities that offered full-time, one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979), OR currently board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a specialty area consistent with the assignment (for those with non-accredited internships).
  • Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. (Exception: Non-licensed applicants may be given a temporary appointment as a "graduate psychologist" for up to two years under specific conditions).

Responsibilities

  • Provides a full range of psycho-diagnostic services for the purpose of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning recommendations, employing comprehensive diagnostic interviews, review of available records, collateral contact, and objective/cognitive testing when indicated.
  • Provides a full range of psychological therapeutic interventions for MHRRTP residents utilizing empirically supported modalities, including individual, family, and group psychotherapy.
  • Develops, implements, and documents the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders.
  • Performs diagnostic evaluations for Veterans with a full range of mental disorders.
  • Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including crisis interventions, evidenced-based psychotherapies (individual and group modalities), and measurement-based care.
  • Consults with and serves as a resource for other professional personnel concerning the need for, evaluation of, and development of psychological services.
  • Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders.
  • May be involved in program evaluation and/or research activities.
  • Provides collateral clinical supervisory duties primarily for unlicensed staff, and potentially a small number of professional staff.
